So, having missed the David Hockney exhibition while it was on at the Royal Academy in London, I decided to take a day trip to Bilbao in Spain to catch it at the Guggenheim instead. Thanks to budget airlines these kind of day trips are affordable, and I’m rather glad I went. I’d heard stories of how crowded the Royal Academy had been and how it was impossible to enjoy Hockney’s paintings at your own pace. This was certainly not the case at the Guggenheim, I had galleries to myself at times and could take it all in at my speed.
