I recently took some shots at the Tenacious D Brixton Academy show in London. Such a great band and hilarious to watch live, very theatrical and super fun to photograph. They are touring their new album Rize of the Fenix and as usual adult humour is in abundance! Old and new D fans will not be disappointed. These guys are the originals, forget Flight of the Conchords and all those other wannabes, Tenacious D reign.
So, having missed the David Hockney exhibition while it was on at the Royal Academy in London, I decided to take a day trip to Bilbao in Spain to catch it at the Guggenheim instead. Thanks to budget airlines these kind of day trips are affordable, and I’m rather glad I went. I’d heard stories of how crowded the Royal Academy had been and how it was impossible to enjoy Hockney’s paintings at your own pace. This was certainly not the case at the Guggenheim, I had galleries to myself at times and could take it all in at my speed.

HOCKNEY EXHIBITION
Hockney sketches

When I was back in the UK earlier this month I visited the Design Museum to see the Christian Louboutin exhibition. It runs until 9th July and is full of the most wonderful shoes from his various collections.
As well as displaying the shoes themselves, there are a couple of other sections to the exhibition. One which shows his initial ideas, inspirations and sketches, along with some of the items you can find in his design studio. And another which shoes fetish shoes he has designed which are not actually supposed to be worn (mostly because they are NOT practical!!).
I found it particularly interesting to learn that he loves to travel and a lot of his designs are based on patterns and influences he finds abroad.
No photography was allowed inside the exhibition, but here are a few sneaky shots…
Now, I’m not sure that these go with the biscuit cushions, but I think these Wild Chairy chairs are simply wonderful. I’d love to own them too!
